Where can one see Tajmahal? Which country has its own Bollywood, where the most dance-musical movie in the world is filmed? Finally, where was the mega-popular PANJABI MC born? Yes, India is the answer! About the country where amazingly talented children live, whom we asked about the peculiarities of the national music of their homeland, ambitions and aspirations, understanding of beauty, and, of course, about the upcoming musical… Kumar, Raul, Vishnu and Nbata willingly and enthusiastically answered all the “tricky questions” of our correspondent Olga:
Olga: Guys, India is a country with the most ancient culture. How exactly the national color, mentality influenced your creativity? How early did you fall in love with rhythm and beauty of sound?
Kumar: Very early (laughs). My parents tell me that when I was two years old, when I heard music, I suddenly started jumping! I love music very much! I play harmonium (Indian national instrument), synthesizer… I love all instruments, as we have a very musical country.
Raul: Yeah! It was the same with me! As soon as I heard a rhythm, I started jumping!
Nbata: My first memory of music and dance is connected with my mother. It was with her that I started dancing, she developed a love for music in me. So when I grew up, I started learning national dance.
Vishnu: My first keen impression, my first reaction to music was not related to India. My dad was watching Michael Jackson on TV and I started dancing! I have been watching all the Hollywood movies with dances for 10 years straight! I love their moves so much, that I tried to repeat them each time. It’s very interesting to combine our smoother dance moves with American, European ones. They are all so different!
Olga: At the workshop on modern ballet, Nikita Dmitrievsky said that dance is the freedom of the soul. It is pure inspiration. However, it seems to me that something else should inspire you to dance too?
Vishnu: Everything inspires me! Dancing, painting and songs give me that energy to create.
Olga: So painting, dance and other art forms are similar in some way?
Vishnu: I like them all. I have been drawing since I was 6 years old. I started, like all children, with a simple pencil drawing, where I rubbed graphite with my fingers (everyone laughs), and when I grew up, I took up oil paints.
Kumar: I dream to become a writer, but for me literature and dance are different shores. They are quite separate…Though, I think I have enough time to do everything (smiles).
Olga: Still, I think that dance revealed the desire for beauty in you and, to some extent, predetermined your choice of profession.
Kumar: Maybe it is true…
Vishnu: And my future profession is connected with drawing and space.
Olga: You want to draw on a bolide, sailing across the universe? (laughing)
Vishnu: (laughing with friends) I want to design spaceships!
Olga: All creative people aspire to space and understanding of the world structure, so you have chosen the right direction. Let aliens see how talented our Nuclear Kids are. They can even design spaceplanes!
Nbata: I want to be a scientist. A chemist! But… (smiles slyly) I can’t do it without dancing! I will definitely combine both!
Raul: And I want to sing, dance and take the world by storm!
Vishnu: It’s so great that we are going to do a musical where we can do everything: singing, dancing and acting! I like to share experience so much: to show how I can do it, how we do it back home, and to learn their national art from others.
Olga: You guys are original, unique dancers, and you have such ambitious plans! What is your energizer? What constantly pushes you forward? There’s a Japanese hokku: Climb, snail, Mount Fuji’s slope — to the heights! Does it correspond to your progression through the world of creativity?
Kumar: Yes, we will definitely reach the dream! The most important drive to achieve our goals is the love for our native land, our people, family and friends. This love leads us forward!
Olga: Good luck, friends! I think that NUCKIDS is the right project where you will be able to realize your talents to the fullest. And now, it is time to rehearse… After all, there are 25 days left till the premiere of the musical…
