The city is checked: “NucKids” have visited Vienna

Stefan Zweig, Gustav Klimt, Otto Wagner lived in this city. Lev Trocki sat in the cafes in Vienna and thought over his future political plans playing chess; Zigmund Freid made notes, working on the theory of psychoanalysis. Vienna inspired Mozart, Strauss, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, List to create a brilliant music. The emperor Franz Joseph and the empress Sissi found a great love in this city that captivated the mankind for almost a century.

The participants of the great project took a stroll through the streets of Vienna. On the 15th of July “NucKids” were on the excursion through the capital of Austria.

A thrice-repeated “wow” to St. Stephen’s Cathedral

The foot-excursion through Vienna began with one of the city-symbols – Vienna Opera, where the most outstanding musicians’ve performed. Going on a legendary stage is already a proof of a successful musical career and earning the praise of the versed Vienna audience is a dream of each musician and dancer. Vienna Opera has  numerous records: Rudolf Nureyev made his bow for 89 times and the ovations after Placido Domingo’s performance didn’t fall silent for 80 minutes.

According to the guide’s words Vienna remains to be one of the most glamorous capital: more than 500 balls take place in this city annually.

“Hundreds of thousands of people watch the famous Vienna ball annually in 50 countries of the world. People above 24 can perform there. In future you’ll also have a chance, so you can train yourselves”, – Kristian said.

But “NucKids” decided that they’ve more time for preparing for the Vienna ball than for their musical, so they continued their excursion with a light heart. The building of the National library, where the copies of all books that are published in Austria, are kept; the palaces of the aristocrats, the monument of the Soviet soldiers and the inscription of the Soviet miners “the area is checked” that is situated near the New Castle on the Heroes’ Square, where Hitler declared the Anschluss – the history in the historical center of the city follows the tourist step by step.

But some sights attract the attention of all tourists.

The excitement of the participants was growing like a snowball.

-It’s great! – Sergei Merzlyakov put an end to all amazed exclamations when he saw St. Stephen’s Cathedral that the Austrian give a cute nickname “Steffi”.

-See, you can find something better in this city than “McDonald’s”, – Kirill Izvanov clapped Sergei on his shoulder.

The children got to learn from Kristian that Mozart got married in this cathedral. The burial service of the great composer was also there.

Travelling for yourself and for the mother

After a short excursus into the history of Catholicism the children went to the court church of the Habsburg dynasty that ruled the country for 650 years. Then “NucKids” visited Hofburg – the winter residence of the imperial dynasty.

On his way Sasha Kostin was speaking with the guide, trying to learn about the facts that the guide hadn’t mentioned. For example how the subway works in Vienna and how many times the Pope has visited Austria. He was interested not only in the city-life but also in the Habsburg treasure-house that “NucKids” visited on the territory of Hofburg.

“I’ve liked the imperior crown the most. The city is cool: it’s green, with unusual buildings, a very interesting architectural style. People are so friendly and always ready to help”, – Sasha Kostin expressed his opinion about the excursion.

Olya Borodina recorded her emotions for herself and her mom who works at the closed enterprise in the city Lesnoi and can’t go abroad now.

“My mom can’t go abroad and when I’m looking at all these beautiful things, I feel so sorry for her”, – Olya complained.

Olya will bring as usual many photos from Vienna.

“I haven’t memorized anything from the excursion on purpose, I explain everything to my mom with my own words,- the girl is smiling. -She always asks me to take more photos. I hope that she’ll once be able to see everything with her own eyes”, – Olya said.

The difficult Korean language and the easy translation

While some children were interested in the city, other children were trying to use a stroll through the Austrian capital as a reason to get to know each other better. The children from South Korea communicated with Ilya Korelskij from Turkey, trying to teach him the basis of their difficult language.

“They say something in Korean, translate into English and I explain how it’s in Russian”, – Ilya Korelskij explained.

-“Anyo” – “hello”,- Dan Bi demonstrated the mechanism of the international communication.

-Anya,- Ilya tried to repeat this difficult guttural sound.

-Net,-  Dan Bi answered in Russian. -“Anyo”!

She repeated this many times till she was satisfied with the result.

-My friend,- Dan Bi hugged her friend Ilya.

-My friend,- Ilya agreed.

The communication between Dan Bi and the children from Turkey attracted Andrei Korchukov’s attention who was collecting the material for the videoclip during the excursion.

Giving interview to Andrei Dan Bi admitted that she was dreaming of learning the Russian language and that she has already learnt the numbers from “1” to “10”. It turned out that Dan Bi’s knowledge of the Russian language is getting better.

“Spasibo”, – Dan Bi said to the camera without any accent.

Dan Bi addressed her smile to everybody – to her Russian friends, to the organizers of the project and of course to friendly Vienna that fascinated “NucKids”.
