NucKids in Paks. The audience was giving a standing ovation!

The premiere of the musical Ask Rutherford of the International Creative Project for Children NucKids took place on August 5, 2015 in the Hungarian city of Paks. The performance coincided with the 70th anniversary of the devastating atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, including many civilians and children. After this tragic event, the world realized the danger that nuclear weapons may cause.

Ask Rutherford is the musical that tells the story of the childhood and youth of Igor Kurchatov the great Soviet nuclear physicist, who helped the Soviet Union to succeed in creating nuclear balance in the world. While singing the final song of the musical – Atomic World, which is performed in Russian by children of nuclear industry workers from seven countries, they send white paper cranes into the audience, which represents the reminder of the victims of those terrible events in Japan. By the way, the white cranes were carefully folded all together by both children and counselors several times. In Novovoronezh the cranes were made for taking a picture of kids standing in the shape of a heart holding this symbol. This photo was specially made for memorable roll-up, where the children then left their kind messages; it was then handed over to representatives of the Japanese Embassy in Budapest on August 6th especially for the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

The young talents blew the audience away with their uncompromising, vivid and expressive performance. The actors also received appreciation and gratitude. The hall applauded after each scene. And even after the final ovation the audience asked the kids to return to the stage to give them shouts of bravo and loud applause. And the project continued its tour in Cesky Budějovice.
