All that glitters is not gold…

Being the main character in a performance is not as easy as it seems at first glance. In fact, the actors on stage have to combine all professional and creative skills, be able to sing, dance, act and hold the attention of the audience. Main characters are the face of the play. The audience will remember them first; they will judge the quality of the production according to them. Moreover, of course, it is necessary to prepare diligently for such attention. We will tell you how the kids playing the main roles in the new musical.

ABOUT HOW HARD IT IS

The main characters are not just lucky kids who will become the little stars of the NucKids Project. First, they are the kids who will have to work the hardest in rehearsals, who won’t be able to rest during the whole performance and who always have to be included in the creative process. No swimming pool and walks on the Gulf of Finland! In the morning they rehearse with director Pavel Safonov, in between, they take vocal lessons with Elena Ustimenko, in the afternoon, they practice acting again, and after dinner, they have a dance rehearsal with choreographer Maxim Nedolechko. Shortly, these children work hard.

“We actually have a lot of work to do. We sing, dance and act. It is all very hard emotionally and physically. But we’re glad we’ve been given the chance to play the lead roles, and in rehearsals we commit ourselves completely!”

Ilya Korelsky, 15 years old from Turkey

“Rehearsals are tough, because we have a lot of responsibility. We have to work, work and work. It is especially hard when three girls are cast in the same role. The competition is felt, because all the young actors are very strong and talented. But this competition is necessary for the creative process, it makes us focused and without it there will be no progress”.

Nastya Lyuleva, 14 years old from Nizhny Novgorod

BEING THE SAME ON STAGE AND IN THE REAL LIFE

The central characters in this year’s musical are the most ordinary teenagers who fantasize, fall in love, become friends, quarrel and reconcile. In short, they live. They make up different stories, and then their fantasies are realized on stage. These characters are very similar to today’s young people. That is why it is very interesting to know how the performers of the main roles associate themselves with their characters.

“I and my character have a lot in common. It seems to me that she is such a charming teaser. Two guys are in love with her, and she cannot or does not want to reciprocate to anyone. She is charismatic, determined, even daring somewhere. In life, I am pretty much the same. That is why it is easier to play on stage.

Olya Savelyeva, 17 years old from Angarsk

“The character I play is certainly like me in some ways. There are some personality traits that we have in common. He is very creative and likes to dream. He writes songs just like me. And in some ways, he’s a show-off. Still, I will be more daring than him when talking to girls (laughs). In this matter, my protagonist should learn from me!”

Vlad Gapon, 15 years old from Volgodonsk

Tiresome daily rehearsals, a huge amount of text to be memorized by heart, several solo vocal numbers – all this is very important for the kids performing the main roles, of course. However, the main purpose is to convey the idea of the play to the audience. Sevilla Saryeva, the performer of the lead female role, understands it in her own way:

“We are on the verge of great scientific discoveries, but we still don’t know what is happening inside us. We very often can’t understand how we feel or who we love.”

We wish the kids good luck in their difficult task and look forward to the premiere, which is just over a week away.
