This year’s rehearsal period for the NucKids project is taking place in Hungary. For a whole week we have been hard at work preparing a musical in this wonderful country, but, unfortunately, we still haven’t immersed ourselves in its amazing culture that much. The hosts of the project decided to fix this oversight, so on their first day off all the atomic artists went to see Budapest.
Budapest is the capital of Hungary, founded in 1873. Budapest is the jewel in the crown of Europe and one of the most beautiful capitals. We have seen old baroque quarters, luxurious theaters and palaces, which have preserved the spirit of the empire in their bronze, greened domes, the ancient fortifications of Buda, monuments to the great Hungarian kings and saint enlighteners of the Magyar land, and, of course, the majestic parliament building, beautiful at any time of day or night!
The excursion for the project participants started quite early. At 10 a.m. the children were sitting in the buses wearing NucKids uniforms eager to see the capital of Hungary immediately. The administrative and creative group decided not to part with the children and joined them for the tour. So, our atomic journey to the glorious city of Budapest began!
The first stop of the creative team was the Buda Castle. The history of the fortress began in the XIII century. After the Tatar-Mongol invasion, the inhabitants of the first Buda moved to a high hill above the Danube. King Bela IV, who returned from immigration in 1255, ordered the construction of a fortress to protect the country from Tatar raids, and soon a town with a civilian population grew around the fortress. The project participants were able to see the fortress building with their own eyes and feel the atmosphere of ancient Budapest.
“I really enjoyed our sightseeing tour of Budapest. We took a lot of pictures, looked around and tried to memorize this remarkable architecture. I have never been abroad and for me this trip was very special. Most of all, of course, I remembered the fortress, where we walked. And also the castle on the mountain, which according to legend the Hungarian king presented to his favorite actress. I wish to receive a present like this one day!”

After the project participants saw the Buda Castle and walked through the central streets of the city, we went to the Zoological Botanical Garden of Budapest. The peculiarity of this garden is that all animals in it are divided by parts of the world. For example, in the House of Australia you will be greeted by kangaroos, wombats and amazing bats.
But it is too simple and boring for our kids to just look at exotic animals and birds! With the help of the director Vladimir Karabanov, our kids lined up in a choreographic pattern and began to shoot another scene for the movie. And not just a scene, but a real music video. Visitors of the zoo looked at our creative team in surprise and whispered behind the backs of the participants. Apparently, they don’t often meet such talented children!
“At first they just filmed us on the sightseeing tour. It didn’t bother me in any way, I was already used to our cameramen, so I just enjoyed the views of Budapest. Especially after the last year this city is practically my home town! We also filmed a video for the song Run in the zoo, which will be included in our movie. It was interesting. There were a lot of takes, and it was a bit exhausting. But when a real turtle crawled into the frame, the whole crew was fascinated, and we continued filming with it!”

But the tour around Budapest came to an end. And even despite some fatigue and heat, which accompanied us throughout our stay in the capital of Hungary, the kids enjoyed this little trip very much. We were enchanted by the beauty of this city and will try very hard to return there again.
