Premiere in Snezhinsk

After the project participants were gloriously welcomed in Ozersk, our nuclear team hit the road again. Snezhinsk became the next city to host the musical Lomonosov’s Scroll.

The road to Snezhinsk took no more than an hour, as the nuclear cities of the Chelyabinsk Region are quite close to each other. This time the journey was fun and easy: the participants sang songs, chatted and even made a movie! Project director Vladimir Karabanov and the rest of the crew did not miss the opportunity to capture such a friendly move filled with the true NucKids atmosphere on film.

Upon arrival in Snezhinsk, the guys were in for a surprise. Local organizers prepared a warm welcome for the nuclear artists at the Orlyonok Children’s Center in Snezhinsk. The project participants not only felt themselves like pioneers, trying on their trademark caps, but also saw Soviet-era military equipment and went on a fascinating quest around the center’s sights. And after having a hearty lunch in an authentic Soviet canteen (oh, how much we’ve missed such a delicious flavor after a month in Hungary!), the kids went to see the most important landmark – the theater stage, where in a couple of days the musical premiere Lomonosov’s Scroll will take place.

It is worth noting that Snezhinsk was waiting eagerly for the NucKids. You could hear about the upcoming premiere of the musical literally from everyone. Local radio stations were continuously talking about the project, and on television the announcer’s voice encouraged all city residents to attend our performance. And so, to the delight of all Snezhinsk residents, our Lomonosov’s Scroll was shown on August 12th.

“In Snezhinsk, the premiere went really great. Our play was a success, even with all the flubs, which happened of course. But the audience was excited. Audiences from these small nuclear cities keep wondering how we could stage such a cool musical in just 3 weeks. We are always very pleased when the audience comes up after the performance and express their gratitude for our hard work. We do our best for them!”

I should admit honestly, when watching the musical Lomonosov’s Scroll in yet another city on our tour, it feels like it just can’t be played any better. But no! On every new stage the project participants manage to prove both to me, and to the creative group, and to all the audience that they can perform to the fullest and simply blow up the hall with their energy.

The premiere in Snezhinsk was not an exception. Once again the hall is packed and the audience shows unlimited interest, again the flow of emotions and energy pours from the stage and the artists play their smallest role to its full capacity. Consistency is a sign of mastery. And our heroes definitely have a lot of skill! The musical goes on in one breath: the musical performances fascinate, the dramatic scenes touch every spectator to the core. And after the performance, some of the participants have tears of happiness from the work done.

In Snezhinsk, the project’s creative team gave the younger cast members a chance to express themselves again. For the local residents, we decided to show the musical twice as well. This time Alina Vinokurova, Diana Kireeva, Daria Maslova, Erika Nedolechko and Igor Fedosov were lucky enough to play the main characters. Neil Garin was again played by the charming Matvey Edelstein from Nizhny Novgorod. He is also the sibling of Mark Edelstein, who played the lead role of Igor Kurchatov in the 2015 musical Ask Rutherford. This is the continuity of generations on our project!

“The premiere of our musical in Snezhinsk went good. I was lucky enough to play the main role in the junior cast again. Comparing it to Ozersk, the play got a lot better. We didn’t have that many flubs…seems like we didn’t have ones at all! I really like my role, I get a real buzz from it. The coolest thing was standing on stage, not being able to see the audience, but hearing them applaud. There were a lot of visitors in Snezhinsk, by the way, so the energy in the theater was just surreal!”

Another premiere has been played, the kids are waiting for the next one and, unfortunately, it is the last point in the touring schedule. Very soon our jolly crowd will go to Moscow to present the musical Lomonosov’s Scroll to the capital audience for the last time. Snezhinsk, see you soon! You were great!
