The Final Premiers

On August 15th, 16th and 17th, the final premieres of the musical In the Beginning Was the Word took place. This year, there were a record five performances of the project in Moscow in a very short period of time. During the three days of the premieres, the hall was filled to its maximum capacity, some even came to see the musical for the second and the third time. And this is not surprising, because for the first time in the project, the performance had two casts – junior and senior.

All day on August 16th Moscow Et cetera theater was filled with the emotions of parents, friends and passionate viewers, and the young artists. They took every opportunity to express themselves, improvised and invented new tricks on the spot. Despite an ankle injury, Matvey Eidelstein played the final premiere brilliantly and danced with one leg in such a way that no one even noticed a problem. And at the Super Strength performance the stage was literally bouncing under the pressure of the young dancers’ footwork. And this was for a reason, because the audience rewarded the artist with a storm of applause and joyful cheers.

August 17th – the final day of the premieres was very exciting. There was a lot going on for the final time on this day of the summer project: morning exercises, make-up before the performance, rehearsals on the stage of a huge theater and the final premieres. The whole morning the cast ran performances and scenes despite technical jams. When the backstage doors did not open mechanically, they opened them manually. If the lavalieres shut off, they quickly looked for new batteries or fixed them with our sound engineer. Everything had to be perfect, because the last performance is always filmed. All the missteps and inaccuracies are visible there, so the kids had no right to make a mistake. And they performed flawless. The audience appreciated the work done so the musical became a part of the project’s history. At the end of the premiere, many were crying, hugging, and experiencing the euphoria of a successful premiere.

On August 18th, the children went on a walking tour around the center of Moscow. They visited Red Square, the new Zaryadye Park, where they walked on the Soaring bridge over the Moskva River, and visited the Central Children’s Store. Then they went on a quick shopping trip to a mall for small gifts for friends and…went on a boat.

As usual, the Nuckids’ farewell party is held on a boat, where they enjoy beautiful views of Moscow out of the panoramic windows and perform at the farewell concert. This year, in addition to dance and vocal performances, a group of kids presented a show in the format of “KVN” (Club of the Funny and Inventive people), which surprised many project veterans. After the creative part of the evening, it was time for the annual lucky ticket lottery. Three lucky winners received their tickets to Nuckids 2020. Yana Koryakina, Erika Nedolechko and Trofim Gnezdilov will not have to go through the selection process next year, they can already start packing their bags for the next project. In addition to the three lucky ones, two more participants, who were honored by the creative team of the project, got lucky tickets. They were Superpower, Alexandra Chernova, and Discovery of the Year, Svetlana Tolstukhina.

At the end of the evening, the kids cried and smiled a lot. Hugs gave the opportunity to express tender feelings to loved ones, make nice souvenirs and watch the fireworks together on the waterfront to the project songs of different years.
