Final preparations for the tour

There are only a few days left before the departure from the rehearsal camp of Yakhonty Tarusa. Just recently the internal casting and script reading took place, and already today the participants together with the director and choreographer are conducting the dress rehearsals of the musical. By the way, it is already possible to open the veil of mystery and reveal the name of the theatrical production. It is called Atomic Love. Certainly every kid takes part in the creation of the performance. Someone learns dances as a member of the ballet troupe, someone learns the script and works out the characters together with the assistant directors, someone sings on backing vocals, many children elaborate solo songs and technique of their performance with the vocal teacher and composer.

“I like vocal classes very much, it’s interesting to learn something new every day! I’ve been singing since early childhood, and I’m very pleased that Ilya Efimov, the composer, and Elena Efimova, the vocal teacher, recognized my abilities and gave me solo songs. They are incredibly cool! We also have a wonderful Olesya Grinfeld, with whom we mainly work on melismatics and the character of the songs. She’s a very awesome teacher, it’s crazy fun to learn with her. All the songs are diverse and difficult: this year we’ll have lyrics, rap and rocking tracks, so every day we have singing and practicing. I love singing in general, so I get a lot of pleasure doing what I love to do,” says Varvara Butko, a participant of the project.

In addition to vocal classes and the musical’s production, the children attend trainings on liberation and attentiveness, which are conducted for them by acting teachers. From the very morning Anna Telitsyna conducts a speech warm-up for all participants: they learn tongue twisters and compete in the speed of their pronunciation, play Zip-Zap-Zop with complications at each stage, do breathing exercises for vigor and get energized for the whole day. Then, on the days free from rehearsals, the children practice with the counselors, majority of whom are students of Moscow theater universities.

“Acting workshops with Anna Telitsyna are a part of the project that deserves special attention.  The program is so effective that progress is visible after the first session: the speech becomes clearer, the sound louder, the words clearer. What is important in the workshops is that they are fun, interesting, and emotional. In addition, before Anna’s workshops, I could not even think that exercises on the speech apparatus somehow affect the work of the vocal cords. In fact, it turned out that they are no worse than singing. For me, as a vocalist, it became not only a discovery, but also a pleasant bonus” – said Varvara Pichugina, one of the main characters.

On August 1st, NucKids go on tour to Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia, and on August 5th the first premiere will take place at the Musical Theatre of the Republic of Karelia. So stay tuned, there are a lot of exciting events ahead, we will tell you about them in the next articles.
