A CITY TO RETURN TO

Visiting other cities and countries is an obvious advantage of the artist’s job, which the participants of the NucKids Project enjoy every year. This year, the NucKids made a voyage to Budapest, one of the most beautiful cities in Eastern Europe, where they came to see others and show the fruits of their creativity, the musical Dream Station.

CREATIVE JUGGLERS AND AGGRESSIVE CYCLISTS

“Budapest is a city which history can be read in the architecture, as the age of a tree is determined by the rings on the cut of the trunk,” this is how the guide Maria opened the tour.

The excitement grew as the bus climbed from the plain of Pest to the hilly part of Buda. Nineteenth-century buildings flashed outside the window, Europe’s longest streetcar was rushing somewhere, a green-eyed duck boat winked – these were the city gifts to its guests. Some of them – the sun-drenched Heroes’ Square, the sunset view from the observation deck of the Parliament – were intended for thousands of citizens and tourists. The other presents were as specially prepared for the NucKids by Budapest. Here’s a reckless juggler who performed at a pedestrian crosswalk at a red traffic light already running to the cars to exchange smiles for coins.

“And these red lanes are for bicycles. When you cross, watch out. Cyclists are very aggressive, and if you get hit, you will be to blame,” smiled the guide.

Basilica, Matyash Church…

– And the roads paved according to the Roman design? They did it, didn’t they? – Sonia Rivkina asked the guide.

– Well, nothing of what the Romans did has been preserved here. However, the idea is theirs, – smiles Maria.

– It means that I watched TV for a reason! – Sonya nods contentedly.

INFINITY SIGN

Of course, it is impossible to learn the history of Budapest in one day. Neither is it possible to stage a professional musical in only eighteen. However, NucKids know from their own experience that everything is possible (here we recall the title of Dima Bilan’s song). If the nuclear kids, telling about Budapest to their friends and parents, will hardly list all the rulers from the colonnade on the Heroes’ Square, then they will definitely take the atmosphere of the ancient and at the same time young city with them.

The emotional memory will keep Budapest different from the images on photos, magnets and postcards. And it will be unique for everyone.

“Why is the architecture so similar to Saint Petersburg?” – Maxim Nedolechko, a choreographer of the project who grew up in the city on the Neva River, asked the guide.

“It reminds me of France…A little,” said Lev Suslov after a couple of minutes, looking at the city from the observation deck.

If Paris is a holiday that is always with you, then Budapest is a story that is sure to continue for everyone who has been here at least once.

Ultimately, the infinity sign is a very beautiful symbol.
