NUCLEAR KIDS 2024. THE BEGINNING!
04.07.2024
09.08.2016
There is a belief among artists that the second performance played is the most unsuccessful. This happens for various reasons: maybe the artists do not have time to recover after the first premiere and lose focus, or maybe it is just a theater fable that many people believe. However, the participants of the Nuclear Kids 2016 Project were able to prove the opposite of the Zelenogorsk audience. The premiere of the musical Imagineers of the XXI Century in the Siberian city was a success!
However, let’s go back a few hours. The audience has not yet had time to gather in the hall, and the dressing rooms are still empty. Young artists are preparing to leave and waiting near the entrance to the Berezka boarding house. Fresh air and unforgettable natural landscapes have already energized the project participants and set them up for a hard day. Having arrived at the Cultural Center of Zelenogorsk, the children started rehearsals. On the day of the premiere, it is especially important to go through the whole play once again to revise the scenes and correct the slightest mistakes.
It is worth noting that the performance in Zelenogorsk was the stage debut for some of the children. The whole point is that the second cast was performing at this premiere. Many kids were waiting for this show with anxiety, because they really wanted to show the audience their acting, vocal and choreographic skills. Nastya Lyuleva, Eva Alekseeva, Ruslan Gabzetdinov, Misha Likhunov, Arina Skomorokha – these and other children came to the Zelenogorsk stage to play the main roles in the musical Imagineers of the XXI Century for the first time. For Misha Likhunov from Angarsk this performance became quite exciting, because his parents came to the premiere. As Misha himself admits, it was in Zelenogorsk that he wanted to show his best to make his relatives proud.
Before the participants of the project impressed the residents of Zelenogorsk with their talents, Zelenogorsk viewers amazed the participants with the size of the audience. It feels like the whole city gathered to watch the musical! The hall simply could not accommodate all comers. Three people shared two chairs, were sitting on the steps between the rows, standing in the aisle. Moreover, this, of course, could not help but raise the morale of the kids and made them do their best. At the premiere, the young artists were especially pleased to see former project participants, who are now university students.
“The premiere was just great! I was actually very worried about how the audience would accept the play and the NucKids Project in general. I am very glad that the musical in Zelenogorsk was a success! I myself look at the performance with a slightly different eye, more professional. After all, I was once a participant of the project, and now the theater is all I live for. I can say with certainty that I liked the musical. The kids did their best. I really liked the design, as well as the choreography and vocals. What a feeling of nostalgia! When the first song was played, a shiver ran through my body, and I immediately remembered the staging of our musical. After all, the memories of the project are very dear to me”.
Daria Antonyuk, participant of the project NucKids 2011, 2012 and 2013, student of the Moscow Art Theater Studio School.
According to the children and their own impressions, it was clear that Zelenogorsk was very pleased that Nuclear Kids had finally reached their town. The hall received the children very warmly. After each piece, after each scene, after each joke, after each flip of Vlad Gapon there was a continuous applause. What’s more, during the final song the audience gave a standing ovation. For the participants of the project it was probably the most memorable performance.
“The premiere in Zelenogorsk was super cool! We gave it one hundred and ten percent! Emotions were just off the charts! Today we all had a good night’s sleep, really tuned in and rocked this hall. With each performance, we feel progress. Our dancing, singing, and acting improves with each performance. The audience of Zelenogorsk liked us very much. They met us very warmly and we felt reciprocity. In general, the second performance went very well!”
Olga Likholai, 17 years old from Krasnokamensk
The Zelenogorsk audience, the young artists, and the project’s creative team, everyone was delighted with the second premiere. Many teachers know about the “doom of the second performance”, and they were very afraid that the premiere in Zelenogorsk would not go as it should. However, the project participants were able to prove that prejudices and old theater traditions could not stop them from blowing the Siberian auditorium away.
“It was enchanting experience! It was much better, more interesting and talented than the premiere in St. Petersburg. Usually about the second performance, people say that it is sluggish and weak, because the artists do not have time to recover from the euphoria after the premiere. Nevertheless, today it was a paradox! The kids went the extra mile, and now I am excited about what will happen next. Today was the first time I had the feeling that I want to join them, I want to play on stage together with them!”
Natalia Gorbas, teacher of acting and stage speech
The second premiere in Zelenogorsk was a success! The audience is happy, the participants are delighted. The second milestone of our tour has been successfully accomplished. New achievements, new performances and new impressions are ahead. Now we are moving to Zheleznogorsk.
