Krasnoyarsk and its surroundings

The participants of the NucKids Project will remember for a long time how the musical Imagineers of the XXI Century and its artists were welcomed in Zheleznogorsk. Endless applause, a lot of gifts, reports and interviews. All this made the young artists very happy, but a little tired. However, even after the brilliant premiere the participants of the NucKids Project were in no hurry to leave this wonderful and hospitable region. Having slept, the kids and the creative group of the project went on an excursion around Krasnoyarsk and its surroundings.

The excursion was amazing! Just like this marvelous city. The Siberian region fascinated all the project participants with its beauty. Immense mountain ranges, incredible size rivers, and just endless taiga, which fills the nature with a special charm and character. Especially the children remembered the incredible scenery of Krasnoyarsk from the observation deck and the opportunity to go down to the Yenisei itself, surrounded by the picturesque mountains. What is most amazing is that the Yenisei seems smaller compared to the mountain range, although in fact its width is greater than the mountain heights by several hundred meters.

The project participants were able to see Krasnoyarsk architectural monuments known throughout the country. For example, it was very interesting to see the famous Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel, which adorns a ten-ruble Bank of Russia banknote. The kids did not miss the opportunity to take pictures and compare the original with the image on the bill.

“I really like traveling around Russia and for me every new place and every new city is something fascinating and interesting. I was very happy when I learned that the tour of the project will take place in the Krasnoyarsk region. From the guide we learned a lot about the city, its people, customs and traditions. Most of all I liked visiting the chapel, which is depicted on a bank bill. When you look at it with your own eyes, it is something magical. In addition, it is impossible to describe the breathtaking beauty of Siberian views! Rivers, mountains, forests – all this struck me to the core. After visiting Krasnoyarsk, I realized once again how much I love Russia!”.

One of the most memorable moment in the excursion program was the visit to Krasnoyarskaya hydropower plant. The HPP instantly impressed the project participants with its scale: a huge dam over the Yenisei surrounded by huge forests and mountains will remain in the memory of all the children for a long time. The Krasnoyarsk HPP dam is another iconic place that is depicted on the ten-ruble banknote, so it was especially interesting to see it. The Siberian HPP not only amazes with its magnificent views and size, but also with its power. It ranks second in Russia in terms of installed capacity (6000 MW). Naturally, after viewing such a landmark, the participants of the NucKids Project did not want to leave the Krasnoyarsk region.

“The excursion around Krasnoyarsk made a huge impression on me. Most of all I liked our trip to the hydroelectric power station. I really felt the whole scale, all the power and strength of this construction. I was simply delighted. It was very curious to see the structure of the HPP with my own eyes. After all, when you read about it in a textbook – it is one thing, but when you see all this beauty in person – it’s completely different”.

Veronika Dorofeeva, 16 years old from Moscow

Our foreign participants got special emotions from the Krasnoyarsk HPP. In addition to the incredible Siberian views, which evoked a mixture of amazement and delight every time, the children learned a lot about how the world’s seventh most powerful hydroelectric power plant works.

“I’m just thrilled with all the places we visited during the tour in Krasnoyarsk. When I was going to the project, I could not even imagine that I would see such beautiful places. I must say that I am in love with Russia! I liked the Krasnoyarsk HPP most of all. I immediately noticed that the hydroelectric dam is depicted on the Russian banknote. It was very fascinating to see it in person! It was huge and incredibly powerful. Moreover, the views of the Siberian nature from the observation deck of the hydroelectric power station have sunk into heart!”

The project participants will remember the excursion to Krasnoyarsk for a long time, because they learned a lot and enjoyed the natural landscapes of Siberia. Unfortunately, this is the end of the project’s stay in the Siberian region. We are very grateful to Zelenogorsk, Zheleznogorsk and Krasnoyarsk for their warm welcome. We hope to see you again soon!
