Each day of the NUCKIDS project participant is on a schedule. Exercises in the morning then breakfast and then the
endless rehearsals. Someone is going to vocals and someone is going to dance. Others
are rehearsing the mass scenes with the producer. The actors sharpen their
characters and warm-up voices with Tatyana Solntseva the teacher of speech and
drama lessons.
Tatyana Solntseva
graduated from the institute of theatre (RATI GITIS) and now she plays in the
LUNA Theatre situated in the center of Moscow. She has a lot of works in movies
and theatre. She is working in the project for the second time. In 2011 she
assisted Dmitry Bikbaev to produce the musical performance named “The Bunker of Freedom”.
Tatyana you participated in the NUCKIDS project in 2011, didn’t
you? This is a rather long breake. Did you miss the project?
I can admit that I really missed
it. I have worked with children a lot of times
during these six years. I had to face various theatre troupes in Moscow.
I even toughed in Moscow
Institute of television and radio “OSTANKINO”. But in the NUCKIDS project only
I had really family relations with children. I looked after their life and enjoyed
their success and was sorry with their failures. The “NUCKIDS” word makes my
hart to beat faster! And when I got an invitation to participate in the project
this year once again I was happy and was ready to do everything! Because it is
a real happiness to be in the project’s atmosphere.
What is your role in the project?
I am both a teacher and a tutor in drama arts. My responsibility
is to study the produced scene, to determine what actors’s aims are placed for the project participants. And then we begin
to study all the tasks with the young actors and what happens in that
particular episode.I examine the role of the young
actor. Why the character acts in such a way? What is he motivated by? We are trying to get the
answers for these and other questions. Besides I am able to look at the scene
from my point of view and to add some details to diversify the picture of the
scene.
Besides I try to make the young actors to pronounce
their words clearly. We are trying to warm up our voices to say the roles’ words
in a clear way in order the spectaculars understand all texts in the musical
performance. If all the actors sing in a nice manner move gracefully and
express their emotions stylishly but pronounce the words by slurring, we will
never get the performance of a high level.
What is the main
feature in working with children?
Children do not have
enough experience because they are children yet. To have drama talents and to be
able to express the emotions this is one thing but to know what you should
express it is quite another thing. It is important for the actor to use his
life experience to make the character more vivid and comprehensive. So the
children should be explained in a proper way how to act in one or another scene.
What they should use (some memories or some experience) to play the character
as accurately as possible. First children are embarrassed to express their
feelings. But day by day they become more open to each other and it is easier
to find the drama talent we need to produce the musical performance.
You give a lot to the young actors in the field of drama playing.
I am sure it is a greate experience for them. But do they teach you anything?
In the project I feel like I am 16 y.o.. The entire world is
opened for me once again. I lern something from them each day and each hour.
For example today they tought me how to use SIRI in my telephone. And this is
not only about gadgets or Internet. They make me take the life quite in an opposite way. And what it is
the most surprising that they teach me how to manage them. It was not a problem
for me to find a right approach to the project participants no in 2011 neither
in 2017. It happened so naturally and easy as we had known each other for
centuries. The NUCKIDS project is such a final exercise to self-discovery and
sense of self.
About the work with the producer
When I was going to the project I was eager to work with Vladimir
Karabanov. I saw his musical performaces (Vladimir produced the NUCKIDS musical
performances in 2013, in 2014 and in 2015) and I saw old-school staging. That is why the project is like a
training course for me. I am keeping an eye on him, I am watching the ideas
come into his mind and how big he thinks. And I have a feeling that I
understand him. I feel comfortable while working with him. Hope to God the
musical is to be good!
