For more than two weeks now, the participants of the NucKids 2018 Project have been living together in one friendly company. Here and there you can meet groups of kids running to classes, discussing the latest news and rumors. For example, how can a simple Russian boy from the countryside communicate with a girl from, let’s say, Bangladesh? This country is so far away and it is completely unclear how people live there. To narrow the knowledge gap and somehow reduce the cultural barrier, it was decided to organize a Celebration of Nations.
The Celebration of Nations is held on the project for the third time. It has become truly native to the participants, and every next year Russian children wait to see what surprises their foreign friends have prepared for them. At the event, a delegation from each country (let us recall that this year’s project was attended by kids from 9 countries) represented their homeland, telling about unusual and surprising facts of their people life. In addition, all the participants of the evening demonstrated their talents and once again proved that they are worthy to bear the proud name of Nuclear Kids.
The Celebration of Nations went really well! I really liked Chinese girls singing. It was very poetical and touching. And when our friend Liu Jingheng started singing, it turned out that he has a very beautiful male voice that takes you away. I was also surprised by the Indian delegation with their national dances. This is a new culture for me and I am very glad that I was able to experience it. In general, the evening was very colorful and bright!”

This Sunday evening in Tolna was probably the most vibrant and exotic for the project participants. The program included national songs from kids from China and Bangladesh, traditional Indian dances, and even tasting of specialty sweets from a delegation from Hungary. A group of girls from Belarus, Ukraine and Turkey touched all the audience with a song in Ukrainian (some of them are former residents of Ukraine), and sisters Lucy and Sophie Ama from Great Britain delighted the audience with the song I Believe I Can Fly, everyone sung along with pleasure. All the children were very impressed by how different and amazing this “foreign country” is.
“I was very nervous about going on stage at the beginning of the evening, but then when I saw the dance from Dominik and Sasha Nikolaev, our acting teachers, the anxiety disappeared. We sometimes perform at the Russian school, but performing in front of the whole project is, of course, completely different. But the kids received us very warmly. We told a few facts about Hungary, treated everyone to our national sweets – hehek, and Bori Rozayi played our national melodies on the flute. All in all, it went very well. I was worried for nothing”.

At the end of the evening, the atomic children were treated to a traditional performance by the Russian delegation. It was organized for the third year in a row by the project’s counselors and volunteers. All of them are former participants of the NucKids Project, who simply had to put up a good show. They twirled all the children in Russian folk dance and in the company of Lisa Balyura, Danil Berezin and a dance team from Angarsk lit up the concert hall in Tolna. It was a beautiful point of our national evening!
“Tonight was a very cool evening. First of all, my sister and I finally got to perform in front of the Russian kids. We have been performing in a choir in our home country in England for a long time, but this was the first time we sang in Russia. Of course, we remembered the performance of the Russian team the best of all. The solo piece from little Lisa from Russia and the dance of our counselors we won’t forget for a long time!”
Lucy Ama, 12 years old from Great Britain
“The Celebration of Nations showed that it is absolutely not important where you live or what language you speak. All that matters is how you feel. The atmosphere of NucKids captivates everyone without exception. We are all so different, but we are united by the desire for creativity, kindness and friendship.
