Premiere in Obninsk!

The XVIII International Creative Project for Children Nuclear Kids 2026 of the ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation will present the musical Who Are You? in Obninsk!

The project has been carried out annually since 2009 by the Communications Department of ROSATOM. Children of employees of Russian nuclear industry enterprises and foreign partners of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation take part in the project. The author of the project is Sergey Novikov. During the existence of the project, more than 1200 children from 25 countries (India, Hungary, Bangladesh, Croatia, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Tanzania, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Egypt, etc.) have participated in it.

This year, 98 talented children, over three intensive weeks, collaborated with stage director and choreographer Maxim Nedolechko, composer Igor Smirnov, conductor Igor Razumovsky, acting coach Tatyana Yagunova, and vocal coach Marianna Savon to stage the musical Who Are You? The project is carried out in cooperation with the All-Russian Public-State Movement of Children and Youth Movement of the First, enabling its activists to participate in the project.

Who Are You? tells the story of young dancers from various regions of Russia. Having passed the audition for the team Not Just Dancing of renowned choreographer Anatoly they gather for an international youth festival in Yekaterinburg, only to face personal dramas and conflicts. Alyona faces the threat of returning to an orphanage, Kolya worries about his sick grandmother, Tim is homesick, Elya hides her passion for dance from her father, and Rasul tries to meet his family’s high expectations.  They are joined by blogger Inga and her producer mother, who is determined to draw attention to her daughter’s project at any cost.

A live broadcast presentation of their new song flops, triggering a wave of online hate, which leads some participants to leave.  Recognizing their shared struggles, those who stay become a true team precisely because of their differences. Together, they create a performance blending multiple styles – lezginka, tap, folk dance, breakdance, and jazz-modern – while Inga defies her mother to write a song about unity.  Their final performance earns a standing ovation, demonstrating that strength lies in unity and that diversity helps overcome any obstacle.

The ultimate answer to the question Who Are You? is found by the kids themselves, and it is simple: everyone decides for themselves who to become.  And the team’s name, Not Just Dancing, is not merely about different people or styles, but about unity and fulfilling dreams.
