THE BEAUTY OF SAINT-PETERSBURG

From the acient times Saint Petersburg is supposed to be  one of the most beautiful city in the world. There
are a lot of different museums and the majestic castles that attract the crowds of tourists
from all over the world. Despite the tight schedule of the rehearsals the
NucKids participants decided to start for the sightseeing of the northern
capital.

The first point in their excursion program became one of the most
famous city in Russia Kronstadt. That phenomenus city and port is situated in
the western part of the Finnish Gulf in thirty kilometers from Saint Petersburg
on the Kotlin island.

Kronstadt was founded
by Peter the Great as an effective shield of the northern capital of Russia
from the western threats. From 1703 during two centuries huge defense forts was
constructed. The coastal batteries and the central fort were being constructed
to defense the city from the enemy invasion.

The fantastic marine constructions and
incredible views and a light summer breeze grabbed the attention of the NucKids
participants. More over the nuclear kids were lucky to see the rehearsal of the
navy parade. So they got great impressions for many years ahead.

“The city tour of Saint Petersburg was
incredible! We visited a beautiful city Kronshtadt that is famous for its long
coastline. That was amazing! We were lucky to see the rehearsal of the navy
parade. As if especially for us the military jets were flying over the Finnish
Gulf where the naval vessels circled over the Gulf. The whole action shocked
the imagination together with an incredible waterside view. To tell the truth I
visited Kronshtadt not for the first time but with each new visit I reinvent
it.

The next stop on the journey was thepalace-park ensemble Peterhof.
It is considered as a pearl among all the
sightseeing’s of Saint Petersburg. It is a unique memorial of the Russian
architecture – one of the most famous country ensemble in Europe, the capital
of the fountains, the grand fun-filled extravaganza from water and gold, marble
and brass, magnificent flower gardens and centuries-old trees.

Peter the Great founded the residence in
the beginning of XVIII century. The first architect of it is supposed to be
Peter the Great himself who also made drafts and designs.  The works expansion has been rapid after the
ingenious victory of the Russian army over Sweden army and the diplomatic
voyage of Russian tsar to France.

In a word Peterhof is the place that better to see once then
listen a lot of it. Thus there was no time
to dilly-dally and the nuclear kids started their journey.

«Peterhof is an amazing place! I have not
seen more beatiful place in my life. It is difficult to point out something
special. There was everyting beautiful there. Peterhof is an incredible cascade
of gardens, fountains and palaces that are breathtaking. We were walking along
the park named «The lower garden”. There is a nice atmosphere there: fresh air,
lawn cut in a nice way, there are squirrels there. And the fountains of course!
They were tremendous! The incredible fountain named “Samson” was waiting for us
near the entrance. It eclipsed our expectations at once. It was the most
powerful, most bright and the coolest fountain that can be imagined. It is
great that we found a day in our rehearsals schedule to go sightseeing!”

All the attractions
of Saint Petersburg that the project participants were able to visit this day
will always be remembered by them. They were delighted by the journey despite some tiredness. But
we have no time to relax because the rehearsals and then the first night of the
musical lie ahead.
