On the way to NucKids

Since the early morning the counselors and volunteers in line with coronovirus infection prevention measures started welcoming the first participants arriving from the farthest parts of our country – Irkutsk, Krasnokamensk, Seversk and other cities. This year, despite the pandemic, Hungarian delegation joined the Russian children. After dividing into three groups, the participants with their future mentors traveled to the park-hotel Yakhonty-Tarusa, which is located in Kaluga region 140 km from Moscow. The road was easy and by evening everyone had already reached the project’s camp.

“At 06:00 delegation from Nizhny Novgorod started their journey. We were accompanied by a new project volunteer Ksenia Sotkina, so we went directly to the buses, where we met the new participants. The seniors and newcomers mixed with each other and on the way the counselors played team building and logic games, and also sang songs of old NucKids musicals. This is the second time I have come to Yakhonty Tarusa. It is a very atmospheric place, as the nature here is breathtaking and inspires you to work” – shared Daria Rybakova, a participant of the project.

After dinner and settling in, the creative team organized a general meeting for the participants, where the mentors checked what knowledge the kids have of the project history, presented the new team of teachers and counselors who will work with them throughout the period, as well as announced the director, choreographer, composer, costume designers and other members of the creative team.

In the evening, the kids had their first team campfires. Here the counselors introduced the project rules to the children, gave instructions on the further action plan, discussed the traditions, and on the first day tried to let the participants immerse into the NucKids atmosphere. Many teams had introductory game trainings: they played “5 facts about themselves”, “snowball” and so on.

“I have ten young girls in my team, and all the kids are very nice. I really want to do my best to make this year lifelong memorable for them! So far we are all getting used to each other a little, adapting to one another, but it should be much easier from now on, because the kids don’t have any time for the adjustment, we immediately rush into work. This year we have prepared a very unique program of activities, various foxtrails, trainings and we hope that we will unite and become one big family” – said Yulia Kuptsova, the new counselor of the project.

Very soon, the kids will start competing for their roles, going through internal casting, demonstrating their abilities and talents. We will tell you about further events in the upcoming articles.
