And red, and turquoise, and even speckled purple! Shades and halftones, bold colors and light color nuances… The whole impressionist palette came to life today on stage, playing along with the “nuclear” actors and wrapping them in its mysterious mantle…
Such a colorful cocktail was developed for NucKids by the top-notch lighting director Alexander Sozonov. “90% of information a person perceives through the picture, – says Alexander, – that’s why a lot depends on the competent light in the performance. It can create an atmosphere, intensify tragedy and make lyricism even softer, make the scene “three-dimensional” and give it a completely different interpretation…” Yes, a theater begins with the first impression, with faith in what is happening on stage, and without a successful visual image all the talented acting can be simply unnoticed. “For a reason “theater” from the Greek language translates exactly “to look” – reminds us the director of lighting, whose task was to support the general atmosphere of the musical and to arrange the light so that you could enjoy what you see. “It is extremely difficult to create a light solution for each particular stage production,” adds director Dmitry Bikbaev. – Especially when the deadline is pressing. After all, the light has to be as successful and expressive as everything in the musical. Like dances, songs, and monologues!”.
Since the musical is a synthetic genre, the lighting design should be at least diverse, combining elements of variety, theater and choreographic lighting. That’s why from 7 a.m. in NucKids there is a real light attack! “You can only imagine, – Dmitry is horrified, – one piece can have more than three light transitions: green, red, ultraviolet, blackout and all over again!”. However, as they say, the game is worth the candle, because it is to the light, mysteriously coloring the stage smoke, we owe the magic of transformation, making the stage a real Bunker of Freedom. “Light, after all, is not only decoration,” Lev Ilyich explains to us his acting point of view. – It helps actors to reveal themselves fully, brings them into the right circumstances and atmosphere. Light creates magic, it immerses the audience in the stage reality, giving the scenery and props real life”.
Today Igor Chapurin, the fashion-industry expert, came to see the “illuminated” run of the musical. “You are working as a real team,” he said to the “nuclear” actors, “and if you go on like this until the end, everything will be just fine!”. With such a positive message Nuclear Kids went to further rehearsals. There are 3 days left till the premiere of the musical in Moscow…
