Interview with a participant from Egypt

80 children visited the NucKids in 2018. Among them there were 56 Russian participants and 24 foreigners. Children from Belarus, Turkey, India, Bangladesh, China, Hungary, Croatia and the UK will join the Russian children of nuclear power industry workers. Foreign members take part in the musical’s rehearsals, tours and the creative project life as much as the Russian kids. Ziyad-Ayman Musa Mustafa from Egypt will tell us how our international friends live on NucKids.

Do you like being here on NucKids 2018? How are you doing here?

I really like it here! I found many friends from India, Bangladesh, Hungary and from Russia, of course. The rehearsals on the project are so very nice. I constantly listen to the director and choreographer, trying to get involved in the process. I have also learned a little bit of Russian, so communicating with Russian fellows has become a lot easier now. I am very glad to be here.

Has NucKids helped you improve your acting, vocal or choreography skills in any way?

Yeah, NucKids has helped me improve my acting skills for sure. I used to be really scared of being on stage. When I had to go out and sing, it always terrified me. But now everything is different. Not only am I not afraid, I now want to get on stage for more and more. It is so very cool! I didn’t think it was possible!

In 2018, NucKids is making a feature film in honor of its 10th anniversary alongside the production of the play. Do you like how the shooting go?

Filmmaking itself is a very interesting experience. I used to always stare at the camera whenever I saw it, waved, and wanted all the attention to be on me. And now I know what to do, what to say and where to look when the camera is on. Now I don’t notice it at all and can stay focused on other things.

This year, Nuckids is traditionally touring around the Russia’s Closed Administrative Territorial Entities (cities with travel or residency restrictions, which require authorization to visit). Tell us about your journey.

I really liked these Russian towns. They are very different from those we have back home. Most of all I liked Ozersk. I took lots of pictures as a keepsake and hope I can make it here again.
