Winter Tale

On December 19th, participants of the International Creative Project for Children NucKids gathered once again at the Ershovo recreation center. The center had become almost like a second home to them during the long summer rehearsals. This time, they were to prepare a New Year’s tale, with the premiere performances set to take place next week in the assembly hall of the ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation In total, there will be six performances, which will be attended by approximately 1,500 people from 26 enterprises in the industry. The creation of the New Year’s tale will also involve the kids’ favorite starry teachers: director Elena Saleykova and choreographer Maxim Nedolechko. Once again, they will help the NucKids create another masterpiece in a record short time. On the very first evening, Elena presented the script for the upcoming tale to the kids, leading to a lively discussion. “We have very little time for preparation, and it’s great that the director already has a script ready for us,” says Lev Suslov, “but we wouldn’t be NucKids if we accepted everything as it is. For the past two projects, we’ve all been directly involved in writing the scripts for our performances, and this New Year’s tale is no exception. We asked the director to give us 12 hours so that each of us could add something personal to this New Year’s story.” As a result, rehearsals only began by lunchtime the next day, after some characters’ dialogues were rewritten and the ending of the play was completely changed. On the same day, the director assigned the lead roles to the kids according to the project’s tradition – three casts for each role – once again giving everyone the opportunity to try their hand at acting. Meanwhile, the choreographer began working on the first dance performance, Black and Company. In the following 48 hours, three scenes of the play were staged and rehearsed, along with the second dance performance, The Song of Little Taka Fox. Masha Burkhanova took charge of preparing the scene for the final song, while Dmitry Arapov took on the role of sound engineer. Intense work on the decorations and props started. Thursday and Friday were entirely dedicated to staging the remaining scenes, refining the choreography, and working on the transitions between scenes. At this moment, everything is ready for the final rehearsal, which will begin at 21:00.
