On June 30th, in the Hall of Commanders at the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill, the XVII International Creative Project for Children Nuclear Kids was officially launched.

This year marks the project’s 17th anniversary. Over the past years, more than 1,200 teenagers from 25 countries have participated in it. In 2025, 96 children from 7 countries participated in the project, with Russian participants representing over 30 cities.

The project will run from July 2nd to August 18th. For the third year in a row, the rehearsal camp will be located at the Republican Ski Center Silichi near Minsk, Belarus. The premieres of the new musical will take place in the capital of the Republic of Belarus on July 26th and 27th. After that, the nuclear kids will spend 10 days in the Urals, touring Zarechny, Novouralsk, and Ozersk. The performances will traditionally conclude in Moscow at the Et Cetera Theatre.

In his welcoming speech, Sergey Novikov, the author of the Nuclear Kids Project idea and Chief of the Presidential Directorate for Social Projects of the Russian Federation, noted that this year’s musical not only highlights important anniversaries — the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the nuclear industry — but also underscores that the history behind these dates is inseparably linked with the idea of peace on Earth. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that our children have a proper understanding of these events.

During the event, the project participants presented a new song, What Do We Know About War (composer Igor Smirnov, lyricist Boris Komarov), written for the summer musical.

As part of the cooperation between the ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation and the Russian Movement of Children and Youth, Movement of the First, this year 13 participants known as the Firsts were able to take part in the project after a special competitive selection process.

Words of encouragement to the project participants were delivered by Valery Morgunovsky, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Project Youth and Children the Movement of the First, Alexander Kudryashov, Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Rosdetcenter, and Andrey Timonov, Director of the Communications Department of the ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation.

Also presented was the book For the Flag Over the Reichstag by Vyacheslav Bavidov, a member of the Union of Writers of Russia. This book served as the literary basis for the script of the new production, and the illustrations were completed in a very short time by project participants Vladislava Andreeva, Ksenia Zanina, Alena Kostyuchenko, and Alisa Tayurskaya.

We would like to express our gratitude to Alexander Shkolnik, General Director of the Victory Museum, for providing the museum’s venue for the event.
